Google fined over 200 billion won by South Korea for monopoly, appeal rejected

Google has been fined hundreds of billions of won by the Korea Fair Trade Commission for forcing smartphone makers to install its operating system.

The Korea High Court ruled on January 24 that Google lost its lawsuit against the KFTC to cancel the corrective order and fine.

In September 2021, the KFTC issued a corrective order and imposed a fine of more than 200 billion won on Google for forcing smartphone makers, including Samsung Electronics, to install its operating system, Android.
